Role Overview

We are recruiting a proactive and supportive Employment Advisor to help people overcome barriers, develop confidence and move into sustainable employment.
This role would suit somebody from an employability background, but we are equally interested in hearing from candidates working in recruitment, sales, customer service, social care, housing, youth work, education, retail management, hospitality or community support roles who have strong communication skills and enjoy working with people.
As an Employment Advisor, you will provide tailored one-to-one support to individuals seeking employment, helping them identify opportunities, develop job-search skills and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
Participant Engagement & Support

  • Manage a caseload of participants and provide personalised employment support
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with individuals from a variety of backgrounds
  • Carry out assessments to identify strengths, goals and support needs
  • Develop tailored action plans that support progression into employment
  • Motivate participants to remain engaged and focused on achieving their goals

Employability & Career Support

  • Support participants with:
    • CV development
    • Job searching
    • Application forms
    • Interview preparation
    • Career planning
    • Confidence building
  • Help individuals identify and overcome barriers to employment
  • Support progression into sustainable employment, training or further education

Employer Engagement

  • Build relationships with local employers and recruitment partners
  • Match participants to suitable vacancies and opportunities
  • Promote local labour market opportunities
  • Support employers throughout the recruitment process
  • Encourage sustainable employment outcomes

Partnership & Community Working

  • Work collaboratively with training providers, support agencies and community partners
  • Signpost participants to relevant services when additional support is required
  • Contribute to local partnership activity and community engagement initiatives
  • Develop knowledge of local support provision and labour market opportunities

Performance & Compliance

  • Maintain accurate participant records and systems
  • Work towards agreed performance and service targets
  • Produce reports and maintain administration to required standards
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, quality and data protection requirements

 
 
Essential Criteria

  • Good standard of education including English and Maths to GCSE level or equivalent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport and establish positive relationships
  • Experience working towards targets, objectives or service standards
  • Experience using IT systems including Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing environment
  • Professional, patient and customer-focused approach

Desirable Criteria

  • Information, Advice & Guidance Level 3 or equivalent qualification
  • Experience within employability, welfare-to-work or employment programmes
  • Experience working with employers and jobseekers
  • Knowledge of local labour market opportunities
  • Experience achieving performance targets and outcomes
  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
