Adult Care Trainer Assessor | Apprenticeships | Home-Based | No Learner Sourcing

Location: Truro & Surrounding Areas
Salary: £30,000 Basic Salary
OTE: Up to £42,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Pattern: Home-Based with Learner Visits Across Cornwall
  
Role Overview:

Are you an experienced Health & Social Care professional looking to step away from shift work, on-call responsibilities and frontline management while remaining within a sector you’re passionate about?

We are recruiting an experienced Health & Social Care Assessor (Level 5) to support learners working towards Level 5 Adult Care qualifications across Truro and the surrounding areas.

As a Health & Social Care Assessor, you will coach, mentor and assess learners throughout their apprenticeship journey, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to achieve qualifications and succeed within leadership and management roles.

Unlike many assessor roles, all learners are provided for you, allowing you to focus entirely on delivering high-quality support, assessment and learner progression.
  
Key Responsibilities:
Learner Management & Assessment

  • Manage and support a caseload of Adult Care learners undertaking Level 5 qualifications.
  • Build strong relationships with learners and employers throughout the apprenticeship journey.
  • Deliver structured coaching, teaching and mentoring sessions.
  • Conduct learner reviews and progress meetings.
  • Assess learner evidence and provide developmental feedback.
  • Support timely learner achievement and qualification completion.

Workplace Assessment & Observation

  • Conduct workplace observations to assess occupational competence.
  • Review knowledge, skills and behaviours against apprenticeship standards.
  • Support learners to apply leadership and management theory within practice.
  • Encourage reflective practice and continuous professional development.

Functional Skills & EPA Preparation

  • Support learners working towards Functional Skills where required.
  • Prepare learners for End Point Assessment (EPA).
  • Develop learner confidence and readiness for final assessment.
  • Monitor progress and implement intervention activity when required.

Quality, Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Maintain accurate learner records and e-portfolio documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with awarding organisation and apprenticeship requirements.
  • Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns appropriately.
  • Maintain quality standards and contribute to successful learner outcomes.

Employer Engagement

  • Build positive relationships with employers and workplace managers.
  • Support employers to understand apprenticeship requirements.
  • Promote learner progress and workplace development.
  • Collaborate to remove barriers and support achievement.

  
Essential Criteria:

  • Minimum 2 years’ occupational experience within Adult Health & Social Care at Senior level or above.
  • Strong background in Adult Social Care leadership and management.
  • Level 5 qualification within Health & Social Care, Leadership for Care, Adult Care or equivalent.
  • Excellent coaching, mentoring and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting staff development and performance improvement.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Good IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
  • Business-use car insurance.

  
Desirable Criteria:

  • Assessor qualification (TAQA, CAVA, A1 or equivalent).
  • Teaching qualification (AET, PTLLS, Cert Ed or equivalent).
  • Previous apprenticeship assessment experience.
  • Experience delivering Level 5 Adult Care qualifications.
  • Experience within learning and development, workforce development or vocational training.
  • Understanding of apprenticeship standards and End Point Assessment requirements.
