Role Overview:

We are recruiting a versatile and engaging Multi-Skills Cover Tutor to join the education team at HMP Highpoint.

This is a rewarding opportunity for an experienced tutor, teacher or learning professional who is passionate about helping individuals develop the skills, confidence and qualifications needed to progress into further learning, employment and successful rehabilitation.

As a Multi-Skills Cover Tutor, you will work with small groups of prison-based learners, delivering and supporting a range of educational subjects including Functional Skills, Employability, Personal Development and other curriculum areas as required. You will play a key role in maintaining continuity of learning, supporting learner progression and delivering engaging lessons that promote positive outcomes.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys variety, can adapt their teaching style to different learner groups and is committed to making a genuine and lasting impact through education.
  
Key Responsibilities:
Teaching, Learning & Delivery

• Deliver engaging lessons across a range of curriculum areas.
• Identify learner needs and develop personalised learning plans.
• Plan and deliver inclusive sessions that support literacy, numeracy, language and employability development.
• Create a positive and supportive learning environment that promotes engagement and achievement.
• Adapt teaching approaches to meet individual learner needs and abilities.
• Motivate learners to increase attendance, retention and progression.

Learner Support & Progression

• Support learners to achieve qualifications and personal development goals.
• Provide constructive feedback and developmental guidance.
• Help learners build confidence, resilience and workplace behaviours.
• Support progression into further education, vocational training and employment opportunities.
• Encourage learners to take ownership of their learning journey.

Quality, Compliance & Administration

• Complete learner documentation including:
• Registers
• Enrolment paperwork
• Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
• Reviews and assessments
• Awarding body documentation
• Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health & safety and data protection requirements.
• Maintain accurate learner records and evidence.
• Work towards contractual KPIs and learner achievement targets.

Curriculum Development & Team Working

• Work collaboratively with colleagues to support learner achievement and progression.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement activities.
• Support wider education delivery through curriculum cover and flexible teaching.
• Share best practice and contribute to a positive team culture.

  
Essential Criteria:

• Level 3 English qualification (or equivalent).
• Experience delivering training, teaching or education.
• Strong communication and classroom facilitation skills.
• Ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds.
• Experience using varied teaching and learning methods.
• Strong organisational and administrative skills.
• Understanding of safeguarding, equality, diversity, health & safety and data protection requirements.

  
Desirable Criteria:

• Teaching qualification at Level 5 or above (PGCE, Cert Ed, DTLLS or equivalent), or willingness to work towards.
• Subject specialism within Functional Skills, Employability or Adult Education.
• Experience delivering roll-on, roll-off programmes.
• Experience working with disadvantaged learners or within secure environments.
• Knowledge of the Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF).
• Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs.
