Job Role: Residential Childcare Trainer Assessor

Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
Role Overview
Are you an experienced Residential Childcare professional looking to step away from shift work, sleep-ins and on-call responsibilities whilst remaining within a sector you’re passionate about?
We are recruiting a motivated and supportive Residential Childcare Trainer Assessor to deliver and assess Level 4 and Level 5 Residential Childcare qualifications across the Midlands region.
This role is ideal for either an experienced Trainer Assessor or an established Deputy Manager, Registered Manager, Team Leader or Senior Residential Childcare Practitioner looking to transition into Learning & Development.
Working in a hybrid environment, you will support learners from enrolment through to successful completion, helping develop the next generation of Residential Childcare professionals whilst promoting best practice across the sector.
If you have the occupational experience but not the assessor qualification, full support will be provided to achieve the Level 3 CAVA qualification.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching, Learning & Assessment
- Deliver and assess Residential Childcare qualifications up to Level 5
- Support learners through apprenticeship and qualification programmes
- Deliver a blend of remote and workplace-based learning and assessment
- Support learners to develop occupational competence, confidence and professional behaviours
- Promote best practice and continuous professional development
Learner Management & Progression
- Manage a caseload of approximately 50 learners
- Conduct learner reviews, assessments and progress meetings
- Develop and maintain Individual Learning Plans (ILPs)
- Provide coaching, mentoring and developmental feedback
- Drive learner engagement, retention and timely achievement
Employer Engagement
- Build strong relationships with employers and workplace managers
- Support employers in understanding qualification and apprenticeship requirements
- Work collaboratively to support learner achievement and progression
- Identify and address barriers to completion
Quality & Compliance
- Maintain accurate learner records and e-portfolio evidence
- Ensure delivery meets awarding body and funding requirements
- Participate in quality assurance and standardisation activities
- Support achievement, retention and timely completion targets
- Maintain compliance with internal quality processes and regulatory expectations
Essential Criteria
- Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare or above
- Experience working within Residential Childcare settings
- Experience as a:
- Registered Manager
- Deputy Manager
- Team Leader
- Senior Residential Support Worker
- Trainer Assessor
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage workloads and work towards performance targets
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Midlands region
Desirable Criteria
- Level 5 Leadership & Management qualification
- TAQA, CAVA, A1, D32/33 or equivalent assessor qualification
- Experience delivering apprenticeships or funded learning
- Internal Quality Assurance (IQA) qualification
- Experience using e-portfolio systems
- Previous Trainer Assessor experience
